Coin Weight
By Mikayla and Jasmine

On Tuesday 5th March, Year 5 had a competition between all 6 tables. The whole idea of the competition was to have the heaviest weight made up of coins. The winners were the harlem shakers with 350g, they also got the highest amount of money which was $21.30. Everyone else tried very hard and we raised a large amount of money. Check out some photos from the challenge.

Whole School Project Compassion Week 3

Caritas Hand By Mikayla and Christian B

On Friday 8th of March, our whole school participated in a hand design to raise money for Caritas. We started off by doing a whole school meditation. Then each teacher chose some people in the class to put some coins on the outline of the hand.  We raised enough money to do the outline of the hand and even make some nails. In Week 1 our class raised 127 dollars, Week 2 we raised 61 dollars and 50 cents and in Week 3 we raised 47 dollars and 95 cents.

Project Compassion Week 2 Year 5

COIN DESIGN

BY CHARBEL AND MIKAYLA

On Tuesday  26th February, Year 5 had a coin design competition between our table groups. We had to make a shape or symbol out of silver or gold coins that represents the charity.  It was a three way tie between the Ghostbusters, Chatterboxes, and Fantastic 6. The Ghostbusters made a peace sign representing world peace. The Chatterboxes made a P and a cross. The P represents a peaceful world and the cross represents the day Jesus died. The Fantastic 6 made a love heart connected to a cross. The love heart represents the people we give money to and the cross represents following Jesus’ way. The Treblemakers made four hands labelled food, water, love and respect, and they also made a peace sign, the four hands represented the things that we do to help charities and the sign also represented world peace.  The All Stars made a love heart, a dove, a cross and people giving money to the poor. The heart represents loving the poor, the dove represents peace, the cross represents people following Jesus and the people giving money to the poor represents exactly what it is. And the last group the gangsters, made a peace sign which represents giving peace to the poor

Project Compassion Week 1

Coin Line

By Clare and Dylan

We are raising money for Project Compassion. On Thursday (21-2-13) our class participated in the school coin line. Every class had to line up their coins next to each other and see which class had the most coins so far. Year 5’s coin line was the longest, measuring 13 m and 34 cm.  We have also had some class competitions between our table groups, so far we have had a coin tower, and coin line competition.   Our goal for Lent is $350 so far we have raised more than $125.
