Whole Number and Roman Numerals

Whole Number & Roman Numerals

By Lily and Jason

We are learning about Whole Number and Roman Numerals.

Roman Numerals
We have learnt that if the bigger number is at the front it is take away.  However if the smaller number is at the front then it is plus.  Check out the tutorial created by two of our students.

We have also learnt if there is a bar on top of a Roman numeral then it increases it by 1 thousand.

Whole Number
We have been looking at the place value of large numbers. Some students created their own google drawings to show the place value of large numbers.

We also learnt how to do expanded notation.  For example if the number is 5367.  Then you have to write it like this: (5x1000) + (3x100) + (6x10) + (7x1) = 5367.  Expanded notation helps us see the place value of each number. Below is a tutorial showing an example of expanded notation.

If you are feeling brave why not have a go at the short quiz created by Mahrae and Angelica
