Language of Cause and Effect


Language Of Cause And Effect By Mikayla And Luke

In Year 5 we have been learning about cause and effect. Language of cause and effect, is used to make the reader see why something has happened. It also makes our writing more interesting. Some examples are:

  • Smoking can cause lung cancer.
  • In order to have a good  life you need to have a positive attitude.
  • The volcano erupted and it caused the animals to leave the jungle.
  • Humans have legs so that they can walk.
  • The boy kicked the ball, consequently it went over the fence.

Some Examples Of Language Of Cause And Effect :
Purpose words and `phrases


  • in order to
  • so as to
Results words and phrases

  • brought about
  • was an effect of
Causative words

  • provoked
  • is caused by
